Community Development

(1.) The Kisauni Labour Youth Circle (KLYC):

This community development project was initiated by a dynamic set of young individuals in Kisauni (Mombasa). These particular individuals now constitute the Committee, namely The Chairman, Vice Chair, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer who, together, represent the interests of the "general membership" of the Circle.

The Kisauni Labour Youth Circle own a plot of land on the Nyali / Malindi road in Bombolulu (Mombasa). It is from this property that the members sell sand, ballast, stone blocks and other building materials, as well as offering transport to an increasing market in this area. They directly benefit from the sale and transport of these materials. They have access to a large number of building contractors and individuals throughout Mombasa.

The KYLC and East Africa Tool Hire have entered into a joint collaboration through the Committee, whereby they have agreed to market our products from their premises, a captive market for local builders and contractors. The community will directly benefit from this collaboration through the retention of commissions earned from the hire of our machinery. Secondly they will benefit through labour contracts as operators on our machinery. Not only do the KLYC general membership as a whole benefit from this collaboration, but individuals and their families will benefit alike.

(2.) The Constituencies Development Fund (CDF):

Another unique relationship that we are trying to foster is with the the Constituencies Development Fund (CDF) who's mission is to allow Government funds to filter down into communities from the grass roots level upward. Community development projects and NGO initiatives are now able to offer their own residents the opportunity to expand their businesses by hiring plant and not purchasing equipment and capitalizing unnecessarily.
